Lead from the top or the bottom?

We often associate leadership with being at the 'top'. It's part of our culture.

And although well intentioned, those that lead from the 'top' often become viewed as "hero experts". Everything gets funneled through them. They become bottlenecks in an organization. Multiple "hero expert" leaders naturally create silos in an organization.

What about leading from the bottom? How does that work?

Those that lead from the bottom use their expertise to lead in service to others, promote others to in-turn lead in service to another, and then to a team, and then to a larger team, and so on... Leading from the bottom in support and service creates an upward vortex in organizations. It removes silos. It is scalable. It is real learning and growth. â€‹
